Back when we got started on this project, few people ever heard of the opportunity to celebrate 100 years since the ratification of the 19th Amendment to the US Constitution. Some called it the “first wave” of the women’s rights movement. Others never heard of it. And still some today don’t even recognize it and insist instead they they are totally responsible for what’s happening today.
The 2020 suffrage centennial is part of something much larger as Olivia Twine and I discovered back in 2013 when we took a blogging tour of the “Cradle” of the women’s rights movement in the United States. We went to the Finger Lakes district of New York State and what an experience.
And 2020 now has a national commission for the suffrage centennial. Some call it the women’s vote centennial, and it has a few other reference names. It’s a victory, especially in the year 2020 when the presidential election will have fireworks. Sign up for weekly posts on LetsRockTheCradle.com
