We started as a blogging tour of the Finger Lakes region of New York State in 2013 by Marguerite Kearns and Olivia Twine in order to bring to the attention of the public the long and difficult struggle for women to win voting rights and the urgent need for public education about this time in US history. “Cradle Rockers” is a tribute to those who have gone the extra mile to win freedom and civil rights.

Dolly Parton qualifies as a Cradle Rocker because of her song about the 19th Amendment in 1920 that gave US women the right to vote.

Meghan Markle is a Cradle Rocker because of her speech about women’s suffrage in New Zealand in 2018.
